Non-destructive testing checks hull structure, welds, and machinery components without cutting into sound material. The methods used are ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant testing, and visual inspection.
Findings are written up so the owner or yard can decide whether a defect needs repair now or can be monitored. Testing is arranged on site, including alongside and on board.
